Here we present the first edition of our “Best Windows Phones in India” series of articles. We’ll discuss about the currently available Windows Phone 7.5 devices in India, their specifications and also their current market prices.
Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is raising it’s head up quickly, at the moment. Lots and lots of new applications are being added in the Windows Phone Marketplace, most of which are quality apps. Generally, people who dislike the complexity of Android phones and the cost of the iPhones, get WP 7.5 devices for themselves. Others like them for the stylish UI. Whatever be the reason behind your interest in Windows Phones, you should know that different manufacturers are now prioritizing on producing more and more Windows Phones for different price segments. The current competition between Nokia, HTC and Samsung is going well.
As there are only few WP Smartphones available in India presently, and that too, each for different price segments, we’d list them all in this post instead of listing a few best ones. The phones are sorted in descending order of their price.
Nokia Lumia 800 :

Nokia Lumia 800 is Nokia’s Flagship Windows Phone at the moment. You can spot advertisements for it everywhere. Even on Jet Airways Flights. The phone itself features Windows Phone 7.5 OS, 3.7-inch 480×800 AMOLED display of Corning Gorilla Glass, 16GB Internal Storage, 512MB RAM, 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, Adreno 205 GPU and a 8MP Camera with dual-LED flash and HD Video. It lacks a secondary camera so you can kiss your video calling wishes goodbye if you’re interested in getting Lumia 800. Regardless of it’s significance, the price of this phone has recently been reduced by Nokia.

HTC Radar :

HTC Radar features a big 3.8-inch 480×800 S-LCD display of Corning Gorilla Glass, SRS Sound Enhancement, 8GB Internal Storage, 512MB RAM, 5MP Camera (LED Flash, HD Video), Secondary Camera, 1GHz Scorpion Processor based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset and Adreno 205 GPU. It runs on WP 7.5 Mango like the rest. The looks of the HTC Radar is seductive, especially the white variant. The price could’ve been a little less, but let’s not talk about it as the Lumia 800 too, in our opinion is a bit over-priced.

Samsung Omnia W :

Samsung is trying hard to compete in the Windows Phone market in India and outnumber Omnia W’s closest competitor Nokia Lumia 710 in sales. This phone is pretty stylish, the design’s masculine, unlike the Nokia Lumia 710. Coming to the specifications, The Samsung Omnia W I8350 runs on WP 7.5 Mango and sports a 3.7-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED Corning Gorilla Glass Display, 8GB Internal Storage, 512MB RAM, 5MP Camera (LED Flash, HD Video), Secondary Camera, 1.4 GHz Scorpion Processor based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, and Adreno 205 GPU. The basic advantage over Nokia’s 710 is the Super AMOLED display and the secondary camera for video-calling.
Price : Rs. 17,699 /- (Buy from Flipkart)
Nokia Lumia 710 :

Nokia too, like Samsung, is very serious about their success with the Windows Phones in India. In order to make the Lumia 710 more attractive to buyers, the company recently cut it’s price from 19K range to 15K range. The Nokia Lumia 710 basically is same specced as the Samsung Omnia W except that it lacks AMOLED Display, and a secondary camera. The Nokia Lumia 710 packs a 3.7-inch 480×800 TFT ClearBlack Corning Gorilla Glass Display, 8GB Internal Storage, 512MB RAM, 5MP Camera (LED Flash, HD Video), 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, and Adreno 205 GPU. It runs on Windows Phone 7.5 OS like the rest. It’s for those people who don’t want to spend 3K extra for AMOLED display and Secondary Camera.
